Neways International Master Planning

Description:

In manufacturing, effective master planning is critical in creating and maintaining overall efficiency within a facility as operations grow and evolve over time. Following an efficient master plan can save a company considerable money in both long and short-term operational costs, and allow them to achieve a competitive advantage in the market.

Neways International manufactures a number of household cleaning and personal care products in its existing Salem, Utah facility. Over the years, Neways has grown consistently, and existing facilities have become outdated and inefficient in their organization and functionality. Axis Architects performed an analysis of current and future production demands and challenges, and developed a master plan for consolidating production, quality control, and research and development within the same existing tilt-up warehouse building.

This master plan focused on developing a linear production scheme to minimize time and travel distance for raw materials and finished goods, as well as personnel and equipment movement. Streamlining each of the flows through the facility saves significant manufacturing time and capitol.
To address future growth issues, the linear scheme allows for parallel expansion to one side. This approach essentially makes future production lines “plug-and-play” so they can be inserted into the facility without disrupting the established product flows.

Axis Architects employs a variety of 3D modeling and graphic representation tools to clarify the planning and design process, and to communicate concepts clearly in a way that is as descriptive as possible.
