Art Boxes Condos

Salt Lake City, Utah

A developer approached Axis Architects with a uniquely challenging site - a long narrow strip of land with road access at each end. After several brainstorming sessions with the client, we agreed that the best use for the property would be to develop nine two-story leasable art lofts. Very contemporary in design, they are detailed to be a low-cost upfront investment, but one that will be durable through tenant use. The lower level of each unit has service access through glass overhead doors, allowing for work spaces with a large amount of daylight. The upper level is designed as a flexible show case for the artwork produced below.
